Salam to all!

Just as a reminder, we have a lot of work on our hands this week, so InsyaAllah let's renew our intentions. REMEMBER that even a smile is an act of charity, so if a smile is all that you can give don't feel let down. Try to make the intention to help out in all events, as if your intention is pure then you'll get the reward even if you can't make it. May Allah give us strength, patience, unity and accept this week as an act of worship..insyaAllah ameen.

Charity Week

WHAT IS CHARITY WEEK???

The idea behind Charity Week is simple....to work together and help make a difference to people’s lives. Charity Week started in 2004 as collaboration between Islamic Relief, ULU ISOC and over 15 University Islamic Societies in the South East. Since then, it has reached out to the Midlands, North, Scotland and Wales regions.

Charity Week is a student run initiative that encourages individuals to sacrifice a bit of their time and direct their skills and talents to a great cause. Its success is entirely dependant on the commitment shown by students and the end result is a reflection on Muslim students in the UK.

University life can impose significant stress on students with exams and coursework deadlines but is also an incredible opportunity to experience and do many new things - use your time and talent to make a difference, providing the perfect opportunity to gain valuable experience in fundraising, Charity Week is also an excellent example of the Muslim student community uniting and co-operating to help those less fortunate.

From Monday, 26 October 2009 To Sunday, 01 November 2009

extract taken from: FOSIS Wales

Charity Week is one week in the year, where Islamic societies, colleges, schools, community associations and businesses from across the country come together to raise crazy amounts of money for orphans and needy children around the world!

“And they feed for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan and the captive. We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks” (Surah Al-Insaan:8)

The value and reward of charity is immense in Islam and there are countless Qur’anic ayahs and Hadith which commend acts of charity and explain how it should be an integral part of our lives. One such example is that which can be found in Surah al-Hadeed: 18 which states:

"Indeed the men who give Sadaqah (voluntary charity) and the women who give Sadaqah (all of them) are lending a goodly loan to Allah; the return for them will be increased; and for them shall be an exquisite reward."

Charity week came to Wales two years ago where several universities and schools united for a great cause to raise money for orphans around the world, through street collections, campus collections, henna stalls, food stalls and much more. This year, we are aiming to do the same and need all the help possible....

One Week. One Cause. ALL the Difference

Do get involve! May Allah rewards us..InsyaAllah

ukhuwwah yang bukan ukhuwwah

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Assalammualaikum w.b.t
artikel yang sangat menarik daripada Ustaz Hasrizal, http://saifulislam.com/?p=2579. ada banyak pengajaran yang boleyh diambil. antara isi penting yang ingin ditekankan adalah;
Tiada duo-personaliti. Mesra dengan teman, hambar dengan kenalan!
Moh kita sama2 meneliti diri yakni bermuhasabah. Moga kita sama2 dapat mengelakkan diri daripada tertipu dengan ukhuwwah yang bukan ukhuwwah. +)

~Let's use Syawal to start a new life!

RAMADHAN is over. The blessed month, which is full of spiritual and physical benefits, has left us and no one knows whether we will be able to meet the next Ramadhan — the month that will again offer us a period of fasting, reflection, devotion, generosity and sacrifice.

Now, we are in the month of Syawal, which is the time to celebrate victory against negative values and apparently, the true meaning of victory lies inside our heart. No one can change us but we ourselves. Let's make this Syawal as the beginning of our new life, as transforming ourselves into a new person would be a great victory.

Do we really get the victory? Do we really pass all of the tests during the fasting month that we deserve a chance to celebrate the victory? Fasting develops self-control and helps us to overcome selfishness, greed, laziness and other faults. Fasting teaches us to control the love for comfort. Consequently, the feelings and lessons we experience during Ramadhan should stay with us throughout the year. Fasting has made us to feel the quality of piety and devotion during Ramadhan. So, now, are we ready to strive to make the feelings and attitude stay with us during our "normal" lives? Because, this is the true goal and test of Ramadhan, anyway.

It is also in this context that we need to seriously, sincerely and appropriately appreciate and strive to adopt the call by imams nationwide during the Aidil Fitri morning prayers. Imams throughout the country urged Muslims to remain patient and draw strength from their faith in Allah (SWT) in times of calamity and cleanse the habit of wasting as it could cause hardship to the individual and those around him.

.........

The imam also emphasised the power of patience, perseverance and keredhaan (submission to the will of Allah) in the face of any calamity as they are seen as acts of Allah (SWT). "Instead of being angry or expressing despair at unfortunate turns of events, one should readily accept them (as Qada and Qadar of Allah SWT), because Allah (SWT) loves those who exercise patience in their everyday life."

The congregation was also advised to spend wisely and stop the habit of wasting as it would lead to the accumulation of debts leading to a Muslim individual falling into poverty. This, ultimately, would affect the amal ibadah (the deeds and acts of worship) of the individual.

Hopefully, we have managed to gain victory over all the challenges throughout Ramadhan and while we celebrate the victory throughout Syawal, let us engage in introspection. Let's do self-examination on our achievement in the fasting month. Did we really managed to purify our souls and set our thinking right? Did fasting really strengthened not only our bodies but also our spirits?

May Allah accept our fasting, forgive our sins, and guide us all to the Straight Path. May Allah bless us all throughout the year, with His forgiveness, mercy, and peace, and bring us all closer to Him and to each other. May Allah give us the chance to meet, enjoy and gain all the benefits of the next Ramadhan. Amin
